Monteith Society

To be recognized in the John Monteith Society, you must:
  • make a gift in any amount to the University of Michigan from your estate,
  • provide the University with a copy of that portion of your estate plan pertaining to the gift, and
  • sign a John Monteith Society Statement of Intent.
If you are already recognized at one of the Presidential Societies levels, you may also become a member of the John Monteith Society by meeting the above requirements.

If you would like to be recognized as a member of the John Monteith Society and at one of the Presidential Societies levels, you may qualify for dual recognition through an estate gift if you provide the University with:
  • a statement binding your estate to a gift amount required for recognition in one of the Presidential Societies levels
    Presidents Club $ 30,000
    Tappan Society $ 75,000
    Hutchins Society $ 150,000
    Ruthven Society $ 750,000
    Angell Society $ 1,500,000
    Haven Society $ 7,500,000
    Burton Society $ 15,000,000

  • a copy of the portion of your estate plan pertaining to your estate gift to the University, and
  • a signed John Monteith Society Statement of Intent.
